In the Spotlight

Stephen Rose – Service Engineer

1. What does your job entail?

I am a service engineer service working in the East Midlands area responsible for servicing and maintaining STILL equipment.

2. How long you have worked at STILL?

I have worked for STILL for about 18 years now! Time certainly flies when you enjoy what you do!

3. What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love how every day is different! How many jobs give you the opportunity to operate in so many diverse industries – in the morning I could be in a major automotive manufacturing plant and the afternoon in a cold store warehouse! Although I have to say I am not keen on working in the cold!

4. What do you love most about working at STILL?

We often refer ourselves at STILL UK as a family – and it really is. Everyone is always so willing to help each other out – I love that every employee is an important cog in our well-oiled machine!

5. Can you give a recent example of some great work you’ve undertaken?

We have a number of new apprentices joining our business and it is important to take the time to pass on the “tricks of the trade” as they say! I like to help out wherever I can as this is a topic close to my heart. I love my job and I want to encourage more people into it!

6. What is your favourite STILL truck and why?

The RX70 is by far my favourite STILL truck! It’s a real work horse and if you look after it, it will look after you!!! easy to operate, reliable and features the smart STILL easy control on-board computer so operators have performance and truck info at a glance!

7. If you could have a superpower what would it be?

I would like the ability to turn back time – Retirement is not far away for me and I have to say I really have experienced some great moments during my employment at STILL – I mean who wouldn’t want to pick the best moments of their life and come back and experience it all over again!

8. Do you have any hidden talents?

I used to play the Cornet which is part of the brass family of instruments – I used to be the Principle Cornet player in the Bulkington Silver band many years ago.

9. Describe yourself in three words….

Loyal, conscientious and helpful.

10. And finally, how do you like to spend your time when not at work?

I do have a passion for Rugby, I used to play but sadly the body takes longer to recover after a game these days so I now spend my time watching at my local club Manor Park RFC in Nuneaton and attending rugby tours.

I also have enjoyed travelling with my lovely wife, Karen to some fabulous places around the world like Australia and Singapore and so I am definitely looking forward to a lot more travelling again post-COVID!
